I would like to invite you to attend UCLA’s Undergraduate Research Week, which is being held May 22-26, 2017. A highlight of the week is Research Poster Day on Tuesday, May 23, 1 – 4 p.m., where over 800 students in all disciplines and majors will present their work in Pauley Pavilion. Another significant event is the Humanities, Arts and Sciences Oral Presentations, which will be held on Thursday May 25, 10am – 3pm in the UCLA Luskin Conference Center. Please join us (if only for a few minutes) in Pauley Pavilion or the Luskin Center to view the research accomplishments of the students who work with UCLA faculty. Events that showcase undergraduate research and creative activities are occurring all through the month of May. A schedule of all the events can be viewed at http://urweek.ugresearch.ucla.edu/ .
If you counsel students who are doing research, please invite them to submit an abstract to present during Research Week. Abstracts are due April 15 via my.ucla’s survey function. Info on how to apply can be found at http://urweek.ugresearch.ucla.edu/.
If you are counseling students who want to do research or a faculty mentored project, please encourage them to attend Research Poster Day on May 23. Most of the students presenting are seniors, which means that their faculty mentors will be looking for a student to take over their projects. It is a great way to see the breadth of research that students can do at UCLA!
Please see if you can fit a visit to Undergraduate Research Week into your calendar. I look forward to seeing you there. Thank you for your continued support of undergraduate research.
